Here’s Why inMotionNow Was Named a 2016 Best Place to Work
As those of you who follow us likely already know, inMotionNow was recognized as a 2016 Triangle Business Journal Best Places to Work (BPTW). Of the many accomplishments that we have achieved over the last years, I can think of none more celebrated or valuable to our team.
Those of us in the Triangle can appreciate how many great companies compete for this annual award. We had targeted BPTW the prior two years, coming within one vote of making last year’s cut. What made the difference for us between this year and last? Here’s what pushed inMotionNow over the finish line:
A Commitment to Finding the A-Players
Our number one driver was finding and keeping the very best talent in the Triangle—people we call “A-Players.” While building that A-team is difficult to do, it’s really the only way to build a truly great company. That’s why we’ve invested significant time and focus into ensuring the new talent we’ve added to our existing team lives our six company values:
- Create Raving Fans
- Move Together with Purpose
- Dare to Fail
- Start with the ‘Why?’
- Talk Straight
- Do the Right Things for the Right Reasons
Everyone we have hired over the last year has embodied these core values.
Momentum
inMotionNow has consistently been one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle—and we have added many great new brands to our customer base since last year’s BPTW survey. As we’ve continued to win over the years, we’ve been very successful recruiting A-Players to join inMotionNow. When your company is growing, it is simply easier to find and keep the best talent.
Empowering the Entire Team
Our entire team relies heavily on one another to solve even our most complex challenges. One of the ways we’ve created a great place to work is by giving our talented people the flexibility to be creative in how they go about “Creating Raving Fans.” Anyone who comes into my office with a problem knows that she/he needs to have at least one idea to share. It’s then my responsibility to ensure she/he gets access to the right people, information, etc. to be successful.
Having Fun and Giving Back
The company has an incredible sense of humor and comradery, which has been immensely valuable in keeping the team motivated and connected. We also have a commitment to service in the community—from partnerships with Habitat for Humanity to Duke Children’s—that has helped us stay grounded. Equally as important, this organization’s competitive nature is directed not at one another, but rather outworking our competition as a team to build the very best company for our customers. As a result, we continue to live our “Move Together with Purpose” core value.
These are a few of the key drivers of our 2016 Triangle Business Journal Best Places to Work achievement. So we’ll take a moment to enjoy this -and then it’s back to work building an even better company in 2017.
You can help us achieve that goal as we’re growing our team. I would welcome the opportunity to connect with anyone who feels she/he is an A-player and would like to get inMotion!
