We’re all familiar with Apple’s iconic advertising campaign “Think Different”. After all many of us in the creative space live on our Macs. This week at inMotionNow we are sharing that we actually “thought differently.” inMotion just launched several enhancements to Project Organizer, our creative project management tool, and I’m pretty sure you’ll appreciate our approach. Because really, you shouldn’t need to be an Einstein to figure out how to use a project management tool.
From “yikes” to “likes”
So many PM tools are rigid and inflexible and downright intimidating with their steep learning curves and interfaces that look and act more like an accounting program – yikes! inMotion was created from the ground up for creative teams and we designed the application to mimic the consumer web – like! (Think simple, like ordering a book on Amazon.)
One of our “thoughts” throughout is that you and your team would much rather work ON creating great content rather than work IN some project management application. I want to highlight some of the new features you will see and where we thought differently.
Workspace navigation: Get to the facts. Tasks and milestones, time tracking and personnel resources committed to a project are one click from the home page. Presentation is simple and obvious and while the creation of tasks, milestones, and team member assignments can be automatically created they can also be altered in less than two clicks…change deadlines, reassign tasks, edit details and more.
Priority Tagging: Projects now carry priority settings so that your team is working on projects in the order that matter most to the success of your business. And you can set level of effort expectations at the task level so that team members know how much time they are expected to invest on the task. And with team member no longer over-investing on specific tasks, jobs end up more profitable.
Team Member Availability and Commitments Mouse Over: As you select team members to work on a project now you can simply mouse over names in the pick list to see what they already have on their plate. See how many tasks and how many committed hours that a specific resource has over the next seven days or across a wider time swath. By checking availability right at the decision point you tee up projects faster.
Digital Asset Management Integration and Digital Asset Storage: When it comes to DAM, we thought differently. We continue to think that DAM tools are less about storing files and more about easy ways to find files and to access files as creative teams create. Best-of-breed tools are now surfacing – tools like Box, Dropbox and Sharefile, to name a few. These DAMs are living in the cloud, priced right, take little effort to set up and make access to all your teams and all your locations ubiquitous. These tools will continue to out distance any tool that non-DAM experts could hope to create. All of the cloud-based DAMs have terrific security, search and sort features, meta-tagging and the like. Working directly with these DAMS we created a project level integration that makes accessing files within these DAMs seamless to inMotion. From all the assets your team needs to build great content to the final proof for routing and review, access can be made available right inside your project space of inMotion. And it’s the same ease of use you should come to expect.
There are more features that we just launched. Contact us to see a bit more of how we “thought differently”. We think you’ll like.
