Part 3: What’s Cool About Review + Approval?
The functionalities of inMotionNow’s brand new online proofing environment, Review + Approval, allow teams to collaborate better than ever before. The inMotioneers who developed R+A 16 sat down with our Customer Success team to share what the new capabilities mean for users. Read on for the third installment in our Q&A blog series!
What does the new side-by-side review capability mean for users?
The side-by-side review capability will function similarly to the side-by-side capability in the old version, but the additional review space creates more room for easier side-by-side viewing. You can also now choose which version of the proof is active, the old one or the new one, so you can see what comments were made, what were the to-dos, and have they been checked off as you toggle from one version to another. That means if a user sees something hasn’t been done, they can notify the appropriate people to complete their tasks during round two or three of the review, instead of having to waste time working backwards.
What’s the new video playback capability like?
A big part of our user base produces video, so we wanted to allow users who are reviewing video to have controls similar to video players they’re already familiar with, like YouTube or Hulu. We took characteristics of those and translated them in to the annotation world, to give users the experience of a YouTube video, except now they can draw on it.
When you start marking up a video in the new review environment, it creates a pin at the playhead showing where the video was at that time. A cool new feature is that now you can take your annotation and put it on a particular duration of the video. For example, you can add a logo to 10 seconds of the video, set the time-span for 10 seconds at the particular part of the video you want, then add the comment, “put the logo here for this time-span.”
What are the expanded file upload capabilities? What do they mean for users?
We’re trying to expand the things that users can do with files. In the old system, users could attach and download files, but that was it. Now, you can attach files and if they have images, you can view them in-line, see previews, and things like that that make it easier for the designer to work with whatever is being shared.
Another cool thing about file functionality in Review + Approval is that you no longer have to go find a file you’ve already uploaded when you want to reference it in a review conversation. We’ve made it easier to access our files, and also direct conversation to where users can review the files being mentioned.
